still one of the best comics out there: ted mckeever´s metropol. people puking out there intestines. thousands dying. angels. demons. bodies turning to metal. guys with teddy-bear heads and baseball bats. it´s all in there. and it all makes perfect sense too. |

they do punked out, mangled, megaphoned, psycho-pop, cover versions and are called boy division. from tom jones, to r.e.m. over motley crue, bon jovi and new order - everyone gets his. plus the best "mad world" cover version ever. (thanks to frank / argh) |

angelmaker records has gone all quite, relaxed & moody on us with eurolectro.2nix. fortunately that still makes for a very nice record. what pushes this over the edge of greatness however, is rude66´s track "donker". what a fucking killer cut... |

zerocrop plays some fine british electrowave-pop reminiscent of black and, uh, other britsh electrowave-pop bands. that and sampled voicemail messages from gay chatlines. yum! |

one of the first "indy comix" i discovered, back when i was discovering "indy comix", is megan kelso´s girlhero. later on shed did "queen of the black black" for highwater books, which i like a whole lot. she also edited the upcoming anthology scheherazade published by soft skull press. |

kernkrach goes double digits. no. 10 features a wooden cover with kiddy handprints. music-wise there are anti trust (also featured on invasion planete´s "monstrueux et magnifiques" sampler), dr. jekyll, nostalgie eternelle & elo bauen + weidel schlappen. those neat little suckers will also be sold at the festival. |
